Mastering the mindset

Successful people don’t plan results, they plan beginnings. Good results always follow from good beginnings. There is a proverb, which says ” Well begun is half done”

In games like cricket, you have only one chance, if you get out, you cannot play again.

In table tennis, you have 11 points in a game. If it’s best-of-3 or best-of-5, you still have more games.

In this situation, one is likely to be lethargic at the beginning and try to catch-up at the end.

Many times, this attitude will lead to failures.

The mindset while playing table tennis, in my opinion should be as follows:

1) Each point is a game point or match point or tournament point.

2) Never give negative points. Let the opponent earn his or her points.

3) If you make a mistake by playing wrongly, consider yourself to have committed a crime, so that you will not make such mistakes henceforth.

4) A match is an opportunity for you to exhibit what you have learnt and it is not a battle field. You neither need to be nervous nor you need to be over confident.

To conclude, in any sport or game, techniques are 75% and mindset is 25%.

Dedication, Hardwork, and love towards the sport or game will master you in techniques. Still, only if you have mastered your mindset, you can win matches.

With 100% techniques and 75% mindset, can never win matches.

With 100% mindset and 50% techniques, you can be at the top for sure.

Request players to give equal importance to both techniques and mindset to become a champion.
